

Lying in the southwest of the Czech Republic, about 60 KM from district-town Plzeň, there is a little town Horažďovice where you can find the starch company LYCKEBY AMYLEX, a.s.
Potatoes growing and treatment has been traditional for a long time in this region. This tradition is more than 100 years old.
During the last century the development got through several stages the latest of which started at the beginning of 1990 after political changes in the Czech Republic. After privatization of the former state enterprise the foreign capital of the Swedish starch concern of Lyckeby entered the newly established company. The parent company has brought both the changes of ownership and the capital investment and know-how.
At present the company LYCKEBY AMYLEX is the biggest potato starch producer in the Czech Republic.
The essential part of starch is manufactured further for modified starch for paper industry (cationic starch) and for dextrin.
The manufacturing technology is fully automated at superior quality. The firm has introduced the Quality system according to the norm ISO 9001 and recently has introduced and uses the environmental system according to the norm ISO 14001.
Business strategy of the company has been focused on the sales for technical industries. Sales are realized by the parent company or by an independent commercial section in accordance with geographic location of the business area.
