A Word from the Director
In 2006, the potato starch plant in Horažďovice had hundred years of tradition.It is a respectable period of time distinguished by the endeavour of many generations of starchmakers, who often fought to preserve the bare manufacture and who strived to achieve continuous and long-term development of the firm.
Perhaps the most significant crisis emerged in the early 1990's, when the Czech starch industry was undergoing gradual privatisation and only 5 out of 17 starch plants have remained in operation to date, among them also the plant in Horažďovice.
After privatisation, a modern enterprise was growing in Horažďovice, not only able to compete with its production and sales programme, but also with its technical and technological equipment, as well as with its experience and qualified employees. It should be noted that an eminent liaison of Swedish know-how and Czech industriousness and skill took place namely in the joint-stock company LYCKEBY AMYLEX, a.s.
